About
In 1985 after years of professional counseling practice, he founded a counselor training program for the general public, using reader-friendly language so that skills and concepts can be easily understood.
This idea emerged from the realization that if counseling knowledge and skills can personally benefit professional counselors, then it makes sense that the general public can also personally benefit. The paper detailing this philosophy is found here http://collegemhc.academia.edu/DanielKeeran/Papers/822024/Democratizat
The College of Mental Health Counseling provides counseling skills training worldwide for personal growth and to prepare the public for entry to the counseling profession beginning with volunteer service under supervision.
Our philosophy is that because of innate empathy, everyone is a counselor as a natural human activity, and therefore everyone is entitled to learn counseling skills so that counseling can be done intentionally for a predictable helpful outcome. Our training includes self-awareness and personal development as essential to effective counseling.
In addition, professional counseling requires operating within a code of ethics for protection of the public seeking help. http://collegemhc.academia.edu/DanielKeeran/Papers/820311/College_of_M
